The Laneri house is located in the Near Southside at Jennings and Terrell, a district that is rich in Fort Worth history. As an Italian immigrant who came to Fort Worth in 1883, John Laneri was a successful businessman who opened several businesses and became one of Fort Worth’s leading philanthropists. Originally constructed in 1904, the home sat abandoned and disheveled to the point that the city had it scheduled for demolition. In 1982, Boothe Architects entered into an agreement with the owner to purchase the property and list building with the Texas Historical Landmark Commission, later as the city’s first listed historic property. As a consequence of Boothe Architects actions, the Victorian / Queen Ann / Colonial Revival style house with its red brick and coast stone trim, bracketed gable cornices and balustrade porch was successfully adapted for reuse as an office, which use continues today.
