Built in the early 1950’s as part of a two-building private medical complex, this masonry building at 801 West Magnolia Avenue sat empty for many years. The absence of usable windows, low ceilings and inadequate HVAC and electrical systems turned everybody off. Acquired as part of the Modern Village Assembly, Boothe Architects, as Village Architect, designed and rebuilt the building, opening up the walls and removing the ceilings, into a very successful coffee shop, beer and wine emporium with exterior brick courtyards. The building is a contributing structure to the Fairmount Historic District.
